As a province Antalya is the single most popular tourist destination in Turkey beyond Istanbul. There are countless resorts set on Antalya’s Mediterranean coast and unfortunately it’s these resorts that have come to dominate in attracting people to this beautiful region. While it is true that Antalya may be the least Turkish place in all of Turkey this only really applies to certain areas and there is still plenty of ‘real’ Turkey to explore if you get away from the hordes of tourists who come for the sunny beaches and all-inclusives. Antalya also boasts many of Turkey’s most picturesque classical sites such as Silyon, Olympos, and Aspendos. Beyond the resorts are countless sites and experiences seemingly untouched by the mainstream tourism.
