The Phrygian Valley
/ By Josh
The ancient heartland of the Phygian civilization, the Phrygian Valley is a land of fanciful rock towers, cave churches, great carved shrines, and beautiful landscapes.
A province of low rolling hills, Kütahya is best known today for its porcelain. The hills are rich in the raw materials for making everything from toilets to ornate glaze-wares, and such ceramic works have played a large role in the history of the province. Once known as Kotyaion in Greek, this region has been ruled by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Turks, Tamerlane, and even Crusaders, though little is left from these historic rulers.
